INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Winterslow Ju-Jitsu Club. In these modern times where there is a marked increase in violent thefts and rape assaults, it is becoming more important that law abiding citizens can recognise potential dangerous situations and if required have the ability to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Ju-jitsu is an effective self-defence system that uses an attacker's weight against themselves whilst using the minimum of strength. Subsequently Ju-jitsu is suitable for all ages and both sexes.
Learning the martial art of Ju-jitsu and working your way to the coveted black belt develops a sense of achievement and worth, as well as building confidence and providing assurance of your own personal security.
ABOUT JU-JITSU
Ju-jitsu is recognised as the Japanese mother art from which other Japanese martial arts developed, in particular Judo, which omitted the kicking and striking techniques, and developed into a world wide sport.
Ju-jitsu was developed as a means of unarmed combat for the battlefield during Japan's feudal period (11th to 16th Centuries). The art has since adapted through the ages to deal with modern society, however, still remains true to its original concepts.
Ju-jitsu is extremely versatile. The techniques used deal with a multitude of attacks including strangles, holds, strikes and kicks. Emphasis is placed on blocking an attack, striking to stun, then throwing and locking an attacker.
WHATS REQUIRED
If you would like to learn Ju-jitsu, training sessions are held as follows:
Saturday Mixed 10.30am - 12.00pm
Wednesday Juniors 07.30 - 8.30pm
Wednesday Adults 08.30 - 09.30pm
Please wear loose clothing with no buttons or zips.
Note: All students are required to be members of the UKKMAF (UK Karate and Martial Art Federation). Membership provides insurance cover.
